long and lean...

Brooks had his pediatrician appointment last week and weighed in at 8 pounds, 14 ounces while measuring 22 1/4 inches.

His head size is in the 50th percentile, his weight is in the 50th percentile, and his height is in the 90-95th percentile. I wish I had counted how many times Dr. Coco said that Brooks was "a long baby"..."a really long baby".

I'm not too familiar with babies, actually I'm not familiar with them at all, but Brooks totally has an old man body. Do all babies have this look? He has this little chest and rib cage and then his stomach is all big and round. If I put him in a tight, white tank top with some pants pulled up halfway to his chest, I would swear I was looking at a 90 year old man. Throw in some suspenders and an old man hat and I've got a pretty good Halloween costume. :)

baby exhaustion...

Brooks had a busy weekend last weekend...lots of visitors and debuts made all over the metroplex by the little man...

he met Aunt Emily for the first time and was nice to Uncle Adam...

because he knew Uncle Adam was determined to make him an authentic Texas baby...

fully equipped with newborn cowboy boots and cowboy hat...

is there even a baby under there???

then it was off to Jimmy and Tiffany's house for dinner to meet the Zollers for the first time...

there were cousins and aunts and grandparents everywhere...

so he needed to take a break and relax...

before getting cleaned up and ready for round two...

this time it was over at Uncle Joe and Aunt Kelli's house for lunch...

to see more cousins and more aunts and more uncles and more family...

but the time came when the Zollers had to leave and we're already looking forward to seeing them again...soon. :)

happy birthday, grandma...

Yesterday was my mom's birthday so my dad organized a little surprise dinner for us to celebrate - and no one deserved it more. My mom has been my rock. Keith's accident happened on April 10th and April 9th was the last day my mom worked. She teaches, loves teaching, is a wonderful teacher, and has given it up to help and be there for me. There was never any question when she let her school know that she would not be returning for the remainder of the year. To let you know how big of a deal this is, before the accident she was hoping Brooks would be born on his actual due date - Monday, May 25th, Memorial Day - because of the long weekend and she didn't feel right taking any more than two days off of school because she needed to be back to review her students for exams, especially those taking AP tests. Memorial Day could ensure her the weekend, two missed school days, plus the holiday. However, she left April 9th not knowing it would be her last day in the classroom for the year. She has been beyond incredible with Brooks and he is lucky to have her as his grandma. He has peed and pooped on her almost daily and she keeps coming back for more. So without further delay, here is Brooks' first restaurant experience. We went to Babe's Chicken...poor kid never even got to sit in his little car seat to relax; he was passed around more than the mashed potatoes...

with Uncle Jimmy, Aunt Tiffany, and Julia...

with Cousin Blake...

with Grandma, Grandpa, and all of the cousins...

Happy Birthday, Grandma! We all love you.

out in the real world...

getting ready to leave the hospital...

but not before saying goodbye to Great-Aunt Kim...

assuming the position he was probably in on the inside - except right-side up now...

so sleepy all the time...

Grandma and Grandpa...

finally getting the band cut off so we wouldn't cause a lockdown...

arriving at the same place where I was brought almost 30 years ago...

see, I'm not really THAT big - or maybe that pacifier is HUGE...

hmmm...who sleeps more...Grandpa or me???

contrary to popular belief, I do wake up - just not for long...

got worked by the pediatrician...

this could be his audition outfit for "So You Think You Can Dance" - the kid's got moves...

the hospital...

right before we headed to the hospital...

Brooksie B. probably wishing he still had an umbilical cord...

but glad they were nice and covered his man-parts...

the first time I saw him...

meeting Gramps and Grammy...

sleeping on Aunt Jessica - he does this a lot...

Lisa and Brooks' potential wife - Keith and I are all for arranged marriages...
