happy birthday, grandma...

Yesterday was my mom's birthday so my dad organized a little surprise dinner for us to celebrate - and no one deserved it more. My mom has been my rock. Keith's accident happened on April 10th and April 9th was the last day my mom worked. She teaches, loves teaching, is a wonderful teacher, and has given it up to help and be there for me. There was never any question when she let her school know that she would not be returning for the remainder of the year. To let you know how big of a deal this is, before the accident she was hoping Brooks would be born on his actual due date - Monday, May 25th, Memorial Day - because of the long weekend and she didn't feel right taking any more than two days off of school because she needed to be back to review her students for exams, especially those taking AP tests. Memorial Day could ensure her the weekend, two missed school days, plus the holiday. However, she left April 9th not knowing it would be her last day in the classroom for the year. She has been beyond incredible with Brooks and he is lucky to have her as his grandma. He has peed and pooped on her almost daily and she keeps coming back for more. So without further delay, here is Brooks' first restaurant experience. We went to Babe's Chicken...poor kid never even got to sit in his little car seat to relax; he was passed around more than the mashed potatoes...

with Uncle Jimmy, Aunt Tiffany, and Julia...

with Cousin Blake...

with Grandma, Grandpa, and all of the cousins...

Happy Birthday, Grandma! We all love you.

Moms are the best, aren't they? I don't know what I would do without mine and it's obvious that your mom has the biggest heart ever. Sure, she probably thinks "anyone would do it", but truthfully, not anyone would. You are blessed, even in the midst of "tragedy". Happy belated birthday to your mom.
